PETALING JAYA: Power Root Bhd, famed for its Alicafe brand of coffee, is helping 36 Malaysians from all walks of life fulfi l their dream of performing the ‘umrah’ – a holy visit to Mecca and Medina that is almost similar to the haj pilgrimage.

According to the Power Root chairman Datuk Afifuddin Abdul Kadir, the ‘ Tunaikan Hasrat Umrah’ campaign is the group’s way of helping to realise the dream of the selected 36 Malaysian Muslims.

“We understand that in order to be able to perform the umrah and also the haj – one of Islam’s ‘Five Pillars of Obligations’ – many of them need to save money for many, many years.

“In this regard, we have decided to help them through our ‘ Tunaikan Hasrat Umrah’ campaign, where we give away 18 umrah packages. As each package is for two persons, we are actually sending 36 Muslims for umrah,” he spoke at the presentation of the umrah package to the fi rst seven recipients here recently.

Afi fuddin said to ensure that all the 36 Muslims could perform their umrah without any worry, Power Root had approached Tabung Haji Travel and Service to provide them with the packages.

The campaign kicked off on May 1 this year and would run till Sept 15.
