YTPY a solid platform for building business skills

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The EY Young Tax Professional of the Year ( YTPY) competition serves as a solid avenue to expose Malaysian undergraduates to the business world and the tax profession as the impetus to strategically build a pipeline of high- calibre business advisors and tax professionals grows nationally and globally.

In a press statement, EY Malaysia tax leader Amarjeet Singh shares: “As disruptive forces such as globalisation and digitalisation continue to challenge conventional thinking and ways of doing business, the tax profession itself is undergoing some remarkable evolution.

“The EY Young Tax Professional of the Year competition, therefore, proves to be a fantastic platform to encourage our Malaysian undergraduates to explore the tax profession, the career opportunities available, as well as to use their talents and skills learned to progress further through global exposure.

“An international competition with an extensive global reach, the prestigious EY YTPY programme truly mirrors the reality of today’s increasingly borderless world.”

Amarjeet added, “At EY, developing young talent and providing them with the opportunities to learn and grow is one of the ways in which we can fulfill our purpose of building a better working world.

“As the EY YTPY programme celebrates its fifth edition in Malaysia this year, we continue to challenge our Malaysian undergraduates to seize this opportunity to learn the dynamics of the tax function, how businesses are managed in different geographies and cultures, as well as the skills required for future leaders.

“As we continue to promote greater awareness about tax as a function and career choice, we are heartened to see more young Malaysians develop an increased appreciation of tax and its significant role in building economies and nations,” adds Amarjeet.

Ernst & Young Tax Consultants Sdn Bhd partner and Programme director of the EY Young Tax Professional of the Year Malaysia Farah Rosley said: “The EY YTPY experience is a rare and exceptional one for students. Participants will be challenged to think creatively and to apply analytical skills to tackle the different business issues presented to them.”

“The prizes are also attractive incentives! The national winner will receive a cash prize of RM8,000 and the opportunity to represent Malaysia in the international competition. He/ She will also be offered paid internship of no less than eight weeks or a conditional offer of employment with EY in Malaysia.
