Go Bald in Miri tomorrow, make a difference
MIRI: The ninth edition of the highly- anticipated ‘Go Bald Campaign’ will take place at Permaisuri Imperial City Mall here tomorrow (July 23), with the ceremony to commence at 9am.
According to Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society ( SCCS) president Jocelyn Hee, the organiser received lots of lastminute registrations for the leg here, following the tremendous feedback and support from the public during the recent events in Kuching and Sibu.
“We are happy with the increasing number of participants. In fact, this shows that many are becoming more aware of childhood cancer and any contribution – financially or physically – can make a huge difference,” Hee said in a statement yesterday.
The objective of the ‘Go Bald’ campaign is to encourage members of the public to demonstrate their moral support for children with cancer and their families by shaving their heads.

road to recovery.
“The act is more powerful than million words put together – it encourages children with cancer to keep on fighting.
“Each and every one of us is making a difference in our own way because by the end of the day, we share the same mission – to help these children in battling cancer,” she said.
Last year, the campaign raised more than RM775,000, with over 600 pledgers having their heads shaved.
The ‘ Go Bald 2017’ will also have other activities such as the showing of a documentary on SCCS and its programmes.
“There will also be a special video tribute for children who succumbed to cancer, but the memories of them live on,” said Hee, adding that there would be performances by members of the Malaysian Red Crescent ( MRC) Miri Chapter’s Sunflower Centre and T- Home Music Centre.
Registration for the headshaving will still be open on the day itself, where those interested to take part can head to the SCCS booth at the mall.
