Kamalanathan: Talented teachers determine success in early childhood education
TANJUNG MALIM: Every teacher’s talent is an important factor in the success of knowledge delivery, especially in early childhood education, said Education Deputy Minister Datuk P Kamalanathan.
He said the awareness of child education centre entrepreneurs, kindergartens including nurseries made these talented and highly skilled teachers become more significant.
“The awareness of parents on the need to prepare children to continue their studies to a higher level makes it important for teachers to be innovative with their talents,” he said when opening the National Congress of Kindergarten Teachers 2017 at the Sultan Azlan Shah Campus here yesterday.
Kamalanathan said education was an important factor in the success of all development projects including the country’s economy and social development.
In the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2013-2025, the importance and role of teachers in education in line with the goals of sustainable development and National Transformation 2050 (TN50) was a futuristic policy that was holistic and inclusive for a new generation, he added.
“The growth trend in the education industry for the past three years shows high demand for professional teaching staff and it is not just academic qualifications alone, but also involves the potential importance and talent of early childhood education teachers,” he said.
The two-day congress was organised by the National Child Development and Research Centre of the Sultan Idris Education University, in collaboration with ABS EDU Solutions Sdn Bhd and Goldmind Evolutions Sdn Bhd.
The congress which was attended by about 300 kindergarten teachers, caregivers and nursery owners and students of Early Childhood Education was an initiative undertaken since 2014 to get the latest information on opportunities and room for professional development in the world of early childhood education. — Bernama
