MIRI: It is up to local entrepreneurs to move forward and grab the opportunities opened up by the state government though the digital economy, envisioned by Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg
Assistant Minister of Women, Family and Childhood Development Rosey Yunus said the potential is there for the local players, regardless of which sector they are in – from cottage industries, food production up to services and more intensive operations such as construction.
“All entrepreneurs, small and big, must look forward. Grab the opportunities offered by the government through the digital economy and e-commerce towards expanding your market presence up to the global level and attaining higher profits,” she said at a ‘ Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri’ event hosted by Bumiputera Traders Association Miri Sarawak (PBMS) at Saberkas Commercial Centre here yesterday.

assemblywoman, said Abang Johari had established the ‘Digital Economy’ goal to boost the state economy further.
“In this regard, relevant bodies such as PBMS, the Chamber of Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs ( DUBS) and Dewanita ( DUBS Women’s Section) should encourage their members to eye the prospects presented through the digital economy, which is set to receive billions of ringgit in funding and capital injections.”
On another matter, Rosey encouraged members of PBMS, DUBS and Dewanita to voice out their interest, requests and suggestions through their respective associations, which would forward all these to the relevant authorities.
“Bumiputera entrepreneurs here can emerge stronger with the help from these platforms ( PBMS, DUBS and Dewanita), which serve as the voices of the Bumiputera business community,” she added.
Later, Rosey announced an allocation of RM5,000 from her Minor Rural Project grant for PBMS to run their activities.
