Military to work closely with police in maintaining security
SIBU: The military will work closely with police and other government agencies in maintaining security of the people, particularly in Sarawak.
The 31st Infantry Brigade Commander Brigadier General Datuk Fadzil Tajudin stressed that through such close cooperation, they could curb crime-related activities such as smuggling and illegal operations taking place along the Malaysia-Indonesia border.
“Thus, we hope that our presence here would be welcomed by the locals,” he spoke at the second anniversary celebration of the brigade at the Junaco Park National Service Training Camp here on Saturday.
According to Fadzil, the people here are familiar with the 31st Infantry Brigade through their active participation in local activities, even though they are celebrating their second anniversary.
“We will continue to hold such meaningful events through the ‘Jiwa Murni’ programme, which will help in further enhancing our relationship with both the various government agencies and the local community,” he added.
Fadzil also called on his men to continue updating themselves with the relevant skills and knowledge to better equip themselves and be ever ready to serve the nation.
The formation of 31st Infantry Brigade in July 2015 was aimed at strengthening the security along the 2,019km border with Kalimantan ( Indonesia) stretching from Sarawak to Sabah.
At the event yesterday, 23 officers and 201 personnel took part in parade as to mark the second anniversary of the 31st Brigade Infantry.
Junaco Park National Service Training Camp project coordinator Khiu Siong Hii, assistant project coordinator Kevin Khiu, camp commander Lt Col Werar Suleiman Ali and Sibu police chief ACP Saiful Bahri Abdullah were among those present.
