MIRI: The United People’s Party ( UPP) Pujut celebrated Sarawak Day on Saturday by continuing its mobile service counter at the Miri Resort Food Court, Bulatan Commercial Centre.

Chairman Bruce Chai said the weekend mobile service counter has been set up over the past four weeks at different locations in the constituency.

“Today, our mobile service counter is our seventh ‘go to the ground’ programme. It is also an honour that our event falls on Sarawak Day,” he said.

To show their patriotism, Chai and team members decorated the counter with a Sarawak flag.

Today, our mobile service counter is our seventh ‘go to the ground’ programme. It is also an honour that our event falls on Sarawak Day.

“It is really a joyous location as today signifies an important day for Sarawak.

“Thus, we rally behind the state government in the effort to fight and restore the rights of Sarawak, which are stated clearly in the agreement as one of the three partners in Malaysia,” he said.

On the mobile service counter, he said there have been many requests to change voting locations, along with complaints on drainage and grass cutting services.

“From our general observation, the response from members of the public on the services that we have provided is encouraging.

“This programme actually is similar with the meet-the-people session that we have conducted before.

“But for this latest programme, we set up a proper team to manage this mobile service counter with fi xed counter locations according to a schedule,” he said.

The next mobile service counter was held at Krokop 10 Market from 8am until 11am yesterday.
