Raja Muda of Perlis alarmed over Internet fraud cases

KUALA LUMPUR: The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail is alarmed over the number of Internet fraud cases which had left Malaysians stranded overseas.

As such, he urged Malaysians to be cautious of the luxurious and illogical offers on the Internet by certain people, which were aimed at making profits.

According to a Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council ( MAIPs) media release yesterday, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin voiced his concern when handing over a donation to the Ibnu Sabil fund to help those who were stranded or needed emergency aid in Melbourne, Australia.

The MAIPs president gave the RM5,000 donation to the Malaysian Consulate- General Office in Melbourne which was jointly represented by its consulgeneral, Westmoreland Palon and Young Consul Muhamad Nadzri Abdullah Sani.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said the fund was one of MAIPs’ initiatives to assist Malaysians in general who were in trouble and needed emergency assistance to return home.

He said Malaysians were sometimes stranded overseas due to fake job offers on the Internet.

He advised the victims to lodge reports with the relevant authorities, especially the police and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). — Bernama
