‘Police lock-up for illegal 4D and cyber gambling operators’
KUCHING: Head of Criminal Investigations Department ( CID) Sarawak SAC Dato’ Dev Kumar has issued a stern warning against the operators of illegal 4D and cyber gambling activities.
He warned that offenders or suspects would be directly remanded in police lock-up to ensure that they would not be able to repeat their offences.
“These people (illegal operators) are a stubborn lot,” said Dev at a press conference after witnessing the handing over of duties to the new CID Kuching chief DSP Mohd Fazri Yusof at the Kuching District Police headquarters in Simpang Tiga yesterday.
He noted that despite numerous raids, some cyber gambling operators continue to defy the police and conduct their illegal operations without fear of being detected and raided.

ten raids on eight illegal 4D operators and two cyber gambling dens on Wednesday.
“Acting on information from the public, a team of four men from CID headquarters slipped into Marudi yesterday (July 26). At about 8pm, the team raided a cyber gambling outlet located on the first floor of a shoplot at Kapitan Lim Ching Kiat Road,” said Dev.
He added that during the raid, two local customers who were engaged in cyber gambling were also arrested besides the caretaker of the outlet, a 30-year- old Indonesian woman.
The Indonesian woman was found to working without a valid work permit and an expired social visit pass.
“Sixteen computers used for cyber gambling and WiFi peripherals were seized during the raid. Also seized from the counter was cash amounting to RM1,250 believed to be proceeds from the illegal gambling activity,” he added.
The case is being investigated under the Common Gaming House Act and Immigration Act.
On another note, all district CIDs have been given a clear directive to ensure that cyber gambling does not rear its ugly head in Sarawak.
“The state CID is constantly monitoring the situation in districts and will not hesitate to send teams down to clean up the districts, however far they may be,” Dev warned.
