KUCHING: The upcoming 13th World Islamic Economic Forum ( WIEF) aims to highlight the aspects of disruptive change through the chosen theme ‘Disruptive Change: Impact and Challenges’.

Speaking to the press in Kuala Lumpur recently, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who represented Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg, said it has been his personal wish to host the WIEF in Sarawak and was looking forward to welcoming the forum to Kuching for the 13th edition.

“This year’s theme is particularly timely as Sarawak is poised to be the next corridor of growth with the commitment to develop the ICT infrastructure to support the digital industries and e-commerce.

“With this partnership, it will be our privilege to share the finer points of Sarawak’s journey of transformation, h he said.

Earlier, both Awang Tengah and Abang Johari attended a meeting and luncheon hosted by the patron of WIEF Foundation and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in Kuala Lumpur.

However, as the chief minister has to be in Australia for an official visit, he has tasked Awang Tengah to represent him at the press conference together with WIFE Foundation chairman Tun Musa Hitam.
