Rh Bengau, Kpg Gelam win award
KAPIT: Rumah Bengau has won the Kapit divisional- level longhouse category for the Anugerah Desa Perdana (Premier Village Award), while Kampung Gelam, Song has won the traditional kampung category.
Both villages won RM5,000 and a certificate each.
Rumah Bengau will now compete against winners from other divisions in the state at the national- level competition for the longhouse category, while Kampung Gelam Song will represent Kapit division at the state-level competition.
In second place for the longhouse category was Rumah Lorie @ Gembal in Nanga Ibau, Batang Rajang, which received RM4,000 and a certificate; while third placed Rumah Bangkong in Nanga Sebala, Mujong, Baleh received RM3,000 and a certificate.
For the traditional kampung category, Kampung Long Busang in Belaga was second and received RM4,000 as well as a certificate, while Kampung Muhibbah, Jalan Bletih was third and received RM3,000 and a certificate. Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat presented the prizes on Wednesday.
“It is not easy to win as it involves many criteria and at the same time it takes time to prepare for the competition that needs teamwork and cooperation of the village and longhouse committee,” he said.
Jamit also called on longhouses and villages yet to take part to register for future competitions.
