MPWK to hold more activities for women and family development
KUCHING: The state Women and Family Development Council ( MPWK) met at Wisma Wanita, Semariang yesterday to identify issues and problems relating to women and family development.
The meeting was chaired by state MPWK chairperson and Minister of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Datuk Fatimah Abdullah.
According to Fatimah, at the meeting, council members submitted proposals for the purpose of formulating relevant policies.
“We also discussed programmes which are related to women and family development and exchanged ideas during the meeting. This meeting should be a platform for that,” she added.
Fatimah said MPWK would work together with the Women and Family Department and the National Population and Family Development Board ( LPPKN) in organising activities for women and family development.
State Women and Family Department will monitor the development programmes for women while the LPPKN will monitor programmes for family development.
MPWK areas in the country are divided into states which is further divided into parliamentary areas.
“For Sarawak, we have an allocation of RM80,600 given to us for the purpose of organising our programmes this year. Each parliamentary area in the state will get RM2,600,” she said.
Also present during the meeting was Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak ( SIDS) chairperson Tan Sri Empiang Jabu who is also MPWK Betong chairperson.
