SRI AMAN: Eighteen female entrepreneurs from Skim Skrang were rewarded for being active in business recently.

During an event held at Skim Skrang yesterday, the entrepreneurs who are also members of the Skrang branch of the Betong Female Entrepreneurs Club (Skrang KIUB) were given food packages by the Betong branch of Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia ( Betong AIM).

Local community leader Betok Tubi received the packages, each costing RM200, on behalf of Skrang KIUB from Betong AIM.

He thanked Betong AIM for extending help to needy women who worked hard planting cash crops for sale to uplift their livelihood.

According to Betong AIM branch manager Zaleha Abu Bakar, AIM is Malaysia’s largest micro credit organisation and since its inception in 1987, it has disbursed more than RM2.3 billion in loans to 262,000 borrowers.

She commended AIM for helping the female entrepreneurs at Skim Skrang start their projects such as planting vegetables and making cakes for sale by giving them cash loan to buy seeds, seedlings and fertiliser.

“According to the Asian Institute of Finance case-study on AIM detailing its achievements since its inception in 1987, AIM has the world’s highest repayment rate, at 99.2 per cent. We really want to help all the small entrepreneurs,” she added.

Meanwhile during the same event, Skrang branch Betong Female Entrepreneurs Club supervisor Nancy Rangkong said the club will host a meeting next month that will focus on teaching Skrang KIUB members how to plant chillies.

Nancy t hanked Engki li l i assemblyman Dr Johnical Rayong for giving RM6,000 to the club - RM3,000 for Skrang KIUB I and RM3,000 for Skrang KIUB II.
