KUCHING: The state’s fi rst- ever ‘Tribal Warrior Challenge’ (TWC) will take place at the Sarawak Stadium here on Aug 19.

The obstacle course series is organised under the year-long ‘Redefi ning Global Tribes’ ( RGT) campaign. Participation is open to all members of the public and registration can be done via www. tribalwarrior.my.

The TWC will have two categories for warriors of all fitness levels – the ‘Rite of Passage’ that comprises 7km race for families and individuals wishing to test their mettle; and the ‘Headhunter’ which is 10km race designed for serious fitness enthusiasts. The TWC is the brainchild of both Sarawak Convention Bureau ( SCB) and innovative partner Borneo Tru Events.

According to SCB chief operating officer Amelia Roziman, TWC is a physical and mental teamwork event that will challenge the participants to push their personal limits and possibly rediscover the new meaning of the values ‘unity, community and identity’ – the same values advocated by the RGT campaign.

“The TWC will have two categories for warriors of all fitness levels – the ‘Rite of Passage’ that comprises 7km race for families and individuals wishing to test their mettle; and the ‘Headhunter’ which is 10km race designed for serious fitness enthusiasts.

“The course will be set within the beautiful landscapes of Borneo. When designing the TWC, the organisers wanted to package it as a completely unique, wholesome and unforgettable experience set against unique panorama,” she said.

The TWC will coincide with the RGT familiarisation trip in the middle of next month, which will welcome 100 experts from national and international associations, academia, corporations, media and convention ambassadors in the business events industry – all of whom will gather and be part of the showdown.
