Indonesian Consul-General in Kuching Jahar Gultom said 28 coffee farmers and suppliers from Medan in North Sumatera, Pontianak in Kalimantan Barat, and Jakarta have brought their best beans for the festival.

“Nowadays I can see coffee is starting to flourish in Kuching. Sarawakians, especially youngsters, enjoy having their coffee while meeting their friends and it is a good development in Kuching,” he said at festival launch yesterday.

“We see this new coffee culture as an opportunity for Indonesian coffee to enter the market.”

“We have so many different beans with different tastes.

“This event provides the opportunity for our friends in Sarawak to see a glimpse of Indonesian coffee and its culture,” he said.

He thanked co-sponsors Earthlings, CityOne, Pullman Kuching, Express Air, Tea FM, Golden Screen Cinemas, and the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism for bringing in Indonesian kroncong singer Hetty Koes Endang to perform at the festival themed, ‘A Blend of Coffee, Culture and Friendship’.
