Ready to hit the ground running in ‘Electrifying Night Run’
KUCHING: The Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sarawak Branch Graduate and Student Section is ready to hit the ground running with their third annual IEM Engineers’ Run themed ‘Electrifying Night Run’.
Co-organised with Kuching Hainan Association, their target is 1,500 runners for this event to be flagged off from Kuching City South Council (MBKS) on Sept 30.
Local Government Minister Datuk Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian is expected to officiate at the event.
The aim of this run is to introduce engineering as a profession to the public, especially the Electrical Engineering branch, hence the theme ‘Electrifying Night Run’.
They also want to bring people together to raise funds for Sarawak Heart Foundation (SFH) – beneficiary of proceeds raised. Participants can sign up for the 12km or 6km run.
This year will see a new ‘corporate’ category where companies and organisations can team up to win the Corporate Challenge Trophy. The first five runners registered under the same organisation to reach the finish line will be declared champion.
There will also be a 2km fun walk category in conjunction with the upcoming Lantern Festival where participants will get a free lantern to carry. Race pack collection will take place at Revolution Run, Green Heights Mall on Sept 28 and 29.
The sponsors involved in this year’s run include Cahya Mata Sarawak (CMS), BlueScope Lysaght (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB), PCSS Consultancy Sdn Bhd, Acson Malaysia Sales and Services Sdn Bhd, EcoSteel Sdn Bhd, Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS), IndoCafe, T4 Teaforu, Lee Ming Press Sdn Bhd, and Aquabalans Sdn Bhd.
