Mohamed Khaled: BN must start to be on offensive

JOHOR BAHRU: Barisan Nasional (BN) must begin to be on the offensive, rather than wait and be defensive against various attacks from the opposition.

Johor BN chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the ruling coalition could no longer stand by and allow attacks from Pakatan Harapan to sink the ship, as the defensive approach so far had made it seem BN was weak.

“Our defensive approach so far has given the perception that we always make mistakes, and as if they (opposition) are always right. We cannot just be seen as accepting all the negative perceptions concocted about us,” he said when opening the Johor BN Convention attended by over 400 delegates, here, yesterday.

Also present were MCA deputy president-cum-Johor MCA Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, Johor MIC chairman Datuk M.Asojan, Johor Gerakan chairman Datuk Teo Kok Chee and Johor MyPPP chairman Datuk Dr S.Sivakumar.

Mohamed Khaled, who is also Johor UMNO Liaison Committee chairman, said BN must go forward and expose how the opposition had failed their voters, and were hardly seen around their respective constituencies.

“We (BN) cannot let the opposition sleep well at night, we must haunt them with all sorts of nightmares.

“Let all the lies, slander, and the attacks they have hurled to hit right back at them.

“We have to ensure that every day they are burdened with answering all our justified attacks. Only by doing so, will we teach them that we are not weak and naive, nor passive, but that we have various weapons at our disposal to defeat them,” he said.

The Johor Menteri Besar said BN must also ensure that the 14th general election would not be a poll based on perception, but rather based on information.
