Exercise self-discipline during haj period, pilgrims reminded
MIRI: Haj pilgrims have reminded to exercise self- discipline and strive to uphold the good name of the country throughout their time in Mecca and Medina.
Assistant Minister of Women, Family and Childhood Development Rosey Yunus also advises them to be patient and to always take good care of themselves in view of the current hot weather there.
“You will go there to perform the fifth pillar of Islam. I pray none of you would be influenced by any culture that does not reflect our identity as Muslims and Malaysians. Strive to be model pilgrims, so that those in Saudi Arabia and other countries would be amazed and impressed by us,” she said at the send- off ceremony at Miri Airport yesterday.
Adding on, Rosey said through discipline and good conduct by local pilgrims including by adhering to all the rules and instructions set by Lembaga Tabung Haji ( TH), it is hoped that the government of Saudi Arabia would consider increasing the quota for pilgrims from Malaysia in the future.
“We hope the Saudi government would increase the haj quota for Malaysia every year so that more of Malaysian Muslims would be able to perform this obligation; thus, the pilgrims must be disciplined and strive to uphold the good image
