Miri City Council to kick off ‘Ops Patuh’ soon, programme to cover four zones
MIRI: The Miri City Council’s ( MCC) operation ‘ Ops Patuh Programme’, to commence early this month, will involve four zones.
A spokesperson said the four zones comprised Zone 1 (Morsjaya Commercial Centre, Taman Tunku business area and Taman Jelita business area), Zone 2 (city centre business area, Miri Waterfront and Centre Point Commercial Centre 1 and 2), Zone 3 ( Pelita Commercial Centre, Boulevard Commercial Centre and North Yu Seng Road), and Zone 4 (Permyjaya new township, Lutong old business area, Lutong new business area and Senadin business area.
To ensure the programme is able to meet its objectives, the enforcement operation would be conducted with the support of the divisional health office and police.
This operation will involve four sections – enforcement, public health, engineering, and public cleaning and maintenance (PCM).
The council’s enforcement section is tasked to check the licences of business premises, fivefoot-ways, back lanes of shops and car parking lots.
The public health section will look into the cleanliness aspect of business premises which include food preparation, tools and many others. The engineering section is given the responsibility to check on building and illegal extension (structure) such as awning.
The PCM section will check on bins and cleanliness of toilets at the premises.
The divisional health office, meanwhile, will focus on the overall cleanliness of business premises under its jurisdiction.
The police will give their support on safety throughout the enforcement operation.
On a separate subject, MCC is warningallfoodanddrinkoperators on the prohibition of selling lottery tickets at their premises.
The Ministry of Local Government and Housing issued a directive on June 15, requiring all local councils to insert a condition in their licences against selling lottery tickets at food and drink premises.
The ministry also wanted the council to display the prohibition notices in the form of poster at the premises.
The MCC has carried out the necessary action including the display of such poster at all licensed food and drink outlets throughout the city.
