Second Startup Weekend Miri this Aug 11–13

MIRI: Non- profit association Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Association Sarawak ( WEPS) is collaborating with Icube Innovation to coorganise the second Startup Weekend Miri on Aug 11–13.

Startup Weekend is a programme by TechStars, powered by Google for Entrepreneurs, supported by Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre ( MaGIC) and OurYouth.my.

The event will be held at the training centre of Sarawak Shell Bhd, Lutong, which is the main sponsor of the event. Shell will hold a sharing session with the participants on ‘How to Enter the Oil & Gas Supply Chain’.

“This programme is part of our community service programme to help budding entrepreneurs.

“Startup Weekend is a 54-hour event that encourages anyone to turn an idea into reality. The event starts on Friday evening when participants pitch ideas. They then form teams around the top ideas and spend the rest of the weekend conducting analysis, market validation and building their idea, aided by selected mentors,” said a spokesperson for the organisers.

On Sunday evening, the teams will come together and pitch their newly-launched ideas and prototypes to a panel of judges. Startup Weekend is an opportunity for people to try to expand their entrepreneurial experience in a weekend and also for them to learn from the teams with the MaGIC Accelerator Programme.
