Obese MOF personnel to undergo ‘Trim and Fit’ programme

-

KUANTAN: The Region Three Marine Operations Force ( MOF) will identify its overweight personnel to undergo the ‘ Trim and Fit Programme’ which will take place soon, said its commander ACP Zulkafli Saariat.

He said this was in line with the instruction by Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director, Datuk Seri Zulkifli Abdullah who wanted the MOF personnel to remain fit in order to strengthen the force.

“We will identify those personnel who do not achieve the desired fitness target and body physique, namely those with the body mass index (BMI) of over 28, to undergo the programme.

“This programme will include aerobic, running and calisthenics which are deemed appropriate for their age and fitness ( level),” he told reporters after attending the Region Three MOF monthly assembly here yesterday.

Zulkafli also urged the MOF personnel to engage in sports to remain active and at the same time, to achieve the ideal weight which had been among the criteria in getting promoted.

“The promotion exercise will take into account the BMI. So, I urge the personnel to take the initiative by participating in the programme. This is because apart from having the ideal BMI, it is a healthy activity,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zulkafli also presented letters of appreciation to four journalists in Pahang for their news reporting on the force.

They were Malaysian National News Agency ( Bernama) bureau chief Noor Shamsiah Mohamad, Sinar Harian journalist Diana Surya Abd Wahab, Mohamad Sofiyyuddin Sarani of TV9 and Mohd Zailani Md Atan of Astro Awani. — Bernama
