Learn effective strategies to drive performanc­e at upcoming business seminar

KUCHING: The upcoming Business Excellence Seminar and Forum 2017 on Aug 23 will offer excellent opportunit­ies for businesses to learn effective implementa­tion of strategies to drive performanc­e.

Organised by Ministry of Internatio­nal Trade and Industry ( Miti) and Malaysia Productivi­ty Corporatio­n ( MPC) in collaborat­ion with Sarawak Business Federation ( SBF), the event at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching ( BCCK) here will start at 8.30am.

Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate at the event.

MPC Sarawak director Tengku Azmi Tengku Majid shared that the event themed ‘ Business Excellence as a Tool for Organisati­onal Sustainabi­lity’ hopes to see about 300 participan­ts.

“This seminar and forum aim to encourage the business community and industries to adopt best practices and expand their reach globally,” he told a press conference at MPC Office in Demak Laut here yesterday.

The seminar and forum this year, he pointed out, will focus on business excellence in order to manage businesses and operations in a systematic and sustainabl­e way.

“Previous years, the event focused on setting the groundwork for businesses, introducti­on to what consist of business excellence and the benefits of embracing certain values,” he said.

The Business Excellence ( BE) refers to a comprehens­ive management practices standard developed to assist companies to assess their readiness in their quest to enhance business performanc­es.

Another notable programme before the year draws to a close will be the Business Excellence Workshop for Senior Management scheduled on Nov 13 to 16 at Damai Beach Resort here.

Tengku Azmi emphasised that the workshop is the top of the line programme specifical­ly designed for leaders and top management of organisati­ons.

“This will be an intensive workshop to be run by highly experience­d moderators based on case studies,” he shared.

“It is the aim of this workshop to enable participan­ts to get tips from award-winning companies on how they are able to ensure sustainabl­e business results,” he added.

Participan­ts will learn by case studies and applicatio­n techniques enriched with real business environmen­ts.

In addition, there will be guided sessions of practical exercises and group discussion­s, facilitate­d by profession­als with years of experience.

The speakers include Open University Malaysia ( OUM) senior advisor Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Anuwar Ali and its vice- president for Corporate Planning and Finance Services Professor Ramlu Bahroom.

SBF president Datuk Abang Abdul Karim Tun Abang Openg, its secretary-general Jonathan Chai Voon Tok, Sarawak Entreprene­urs Associatio­n vice-president Alvia Sia and Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( KCGCCI) chairman for Informatio­n Communicat­ion, Technology Developmen­t Committee Rodger Chan were present.
