The allocation (MRP) given by me, be it to MGB or parent-teacher associations (PIBG) ought to be fully utilised and for meaningful purposes like academic activities and co-curriculum to benefit the school children.
SEBUYAU: A total of 141 Primary 6 pupils from 19 schools in Sebuyau constituency attended a two- day ‘ Program Kecemerlangan 3B UPSR dan Ceramah Keibubapaan’ at Dewan Pembangunan Sebuyau, here.
The programme, organised by the Sebuyau zone headmasters council ( MGB), was to prepare the school children for next month’s UPSR exam.
Assistant Minister of Coastal Road Datuk Julaihi Narawi officiated at the programme on Wednesday.
Sebuyau sub- district Sarawak administrative officer Ajis Ahmad was also present.
Julaihi, in his speech, commended the initiative by MGB to hold such educational activities for the school children, saying it was in line with his intention that the minor rural project ( MRP) allocations given to the school authorities be spent on meaningful purposes.

by me, be it to MGB or parentteacher associations ( PIBG) ought to be fully utilised and for meaningful purposes like academic activities and cocurriculum to benefit the school children,” he said.
He added that it would be pointless to give allocation if the money was not well spent.
Julaihi, who is Sebuyau assemblyman, urged parents through PIBG to work with the schools on their children’s academic performance, adding that both teachers and parents must play their roles and share a common goal in shaping the school children towards achieving excellent results.
“As parents, you must participate in the activities of the school because your participation will motivate your children,” he pointed out.
He also advised parents, whose children will be sitting for UPSR this year, to motivate their children, saying that the public examination determines the future of the children.
Julaihi also stressed on the importance for rural school children to be proficient in English, while not neglecting Bahasa Malaysia.
He said he himself had taken the initiative to improve the level of English proficiency through Newspaper In Education ( NIE) programme by subscribing The Borneo Post for distribution to all the schools in the constituency.
