Bintulu sprucing up for carnival
BINTULU: Bintulu is gearing itself for a mega spring cleaning on August 26 as part of preparations to welcome visitors to the town for various interesting events and celebrations.
Bintulu Development Authority ( BDA) general manager Rodziah Morshidi said this is one of the annual activities that will be participated by the people from all walks of life.
“It is our tradition to have a spring cleaning before we can kick off with our various activities.
“I appeal to the public to take care of the cleanliness of Bintulu and to make sure the town is always clean,” he told reporters during a press conference after chairing a meeting with the Federation of Registered Chinese Associations ( Forca) Bintulu at Wisma Bintulu yesterday.
She said BDA is currently intensifying its efforts in focusing on beautification works especially on the town landscaping.
Rodziah therefore urged the public to come together and participate in the spring cleaning programme that will be centred at Bintulu Paragon, the venue of the Bintulu Tanglung Carnival 2017.
Various activities have been lined- up for the carnival starting with Bintulu mural art competition from August 31 to September 3; Bintulu Food Fair ( September 26- October 1); multi racial cultural performances ( Sept 26- Oct 1) and Sarawak, Sabah and Brunei singing competition ( Sept 27 final).
Other activities include Borneo and Sarawak Traditional lion dance ( Sept 28); dance competition ( Sept 29); Malaysian Book of Record for the Longest mooncake line ( Sept 30); Maju Sarawak Run 2017 ( Sept 30); tanglung harmony ride ( Sept 30); Children audition 2017 ( Oct 1); lantern making competition ( Oct 1) and firework display on Oct 1.
The tanglung carnival is jointly organised by Forca Bintulu, BDA and Bintulu Resident’s Office.
