SIBU: The restoration and renovation works on the Mill HillDe La Salle Resource Centre at SMK Sacred Heart here has been completed two months ahead of schedule.

Works to restore the iconic two- storey building at the main entrance of the school built in the 1960s, started after this year’s Gawai Dayak celebration, said Dato Sri Bartholomew Wong Kee Kho, who headed the project management committee.

The project was fully funded by Sacred Heart School (SHS) old boys of 1988 (Form 5).

“The effort by the old boys of SHS 88 should be a good example for others to follow to contribute back to their alma mater.

“The official handing over of this resource centre will be on Aug 5 ( Saturday) in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Sacred Heart Secondary School Relocation ( From Mission Road To Oya Road) celebration,” he told The Borneo Post yesterday.

The counselling room at the ground floor of the building has been renovated into a night study room and room for seminars.

The fully air- conditioned night study room and seminar room can accommodate 88 students at any one time.

The night study room will provide students with a conducive, comfortable, clean and selflearning area equipped with facilities, Wong added.

He said the whole building had been given a new coat of paint, new flooring and ceiling.

This was to maintain the originality of the facade of the building to have the back-to-school ambience and environment, he added.
