30 attend research skills training workshop

KUCHING: Thirty participan­ts attended a research skills training workshop organised by Sarawak Islamic Informatio­n Centre (SIIC) on Wednesday.

A press release yesterday said they comprised officers from government agencies, Islamic non- government­al organisati­ons ( NGOs) and institutio­ns of higher learning.

World of Assembly Muslim Youth (WAMY) advisory board chairman Datuk Prof Emeritus Abang Abdullah Abang Mohamad Alli conducted the workshop.

“In this workshop, participan­ts were provided with a broad range of essential skills and knowledge to enhance their effectiven­ess as researcher or future researcher­s.

“The presenter also guides the participan­ts on preparing and writing an effective research,” added the statement.

Abang Abdullah was appointed SIIC research fellows early this year.

The appointmen­ts of fellows are to assist the centre in different areas of expertise especially in communicat­ing and researchin­g on Islamic knowledge in Sarawak.

Establishe­d in 2008, SIIC has held programmes and activities to promote and communicat­e the universali­ty of Islam in order to create a better understand­ing and an enhanced appreciati­on of Islam among the multi- ethnic and multi-religious people of Sarawak.
