Police vow to go extra mile in combating drug
KUCHING: Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Amer Awal has assured that his men will go the extra mile to combat drug related activities in the state.
According to him, it is vital for the police to arrest drug pushers and those found in possession of contraband before it degrades society, especially the younger generation.
“I have instructed the police narcotics department at the state and district headquarters to go all out to combat the drug menace,” said Amer to reporters at the ‘Hari Hijau PDRM 2017’ celebration held at the state police headquarters here yesterday.
He added that it has always been among his top priorities to combat drug related activities in Sarawak since taking over the helm as Sarawak’s top cop from Datuk Mazlan Mansor on July 17.
On cases of drugs smuggled across the border to Indonesia, Amer said : “We are working together with the Indonesian police who have the same objective like us in combating drug abuse and drug smuggling activities.”
He revealed that the State Narcotics and Criminal Investigations Department (NCID) arrested two Sarawakians in Serikin, Bau on Aug 4 and seized 133 grammes of crystal substances believed to be Syabu with an estimated market value of RM37,240.
