Police launch nationwide campaign to green the environment
KUCHING: Officers and staffs from the Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) were armed with shovels and spades as they took part in the “Hari Hijau PDRM 2017” celebration yesterday.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Amer Awal revealed that the objective of the nationwide celebration is to instill awareness on the importance of maintaining a green environment within the PDRM fraternity.
“Today (yesterday) we have the participation of 920 officers and staffs from the state contingent,” said Amer to reporters after a tree planting ceremony – as a symbolic launch of the celebration in Sarawak.
Besides the participation of those in IPK Sarawak in Jalan Badruddin here, the celebration was also held at the Sarawak General Operations Force (GOF) headquarters in Batu Kawa, Pulapol Kuching and the Marine police Region Five in Bintulu.
Besides the tree planting ceremony, the celebration also involves ‘gotong royong’ and an aerobic exercise.
A video conference hosted by Bukit Aman among all the participating contingents was also held as part of the celebration yesterday.
Also present at the celebration in IPK Sarawak were Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Pahlawan Dzuraidi Ibrahim and Head of Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Sarawak SAC Dato’ Dev Kumar.
