Police launch nationwide campaign to green the environmen­t

KUCHING: Officers and staffs from the Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarte­rs (IPK) were armed with shovels and spades as they took part in the “Hari Hijau PDRM 2017” celebratio­n yesterday.

Sarawak Police Commission­er Datuk Amer Awal revealed that the objective of the nationwide celebratio­n is to instill awareness on the importance of maintainin­g a green environmen­t within the PDRM fraternity.

“Today (yesterday) we have the participat­ion of 920 officers and staffs from the state contingent,” said Amer to reporters after a tree planting ceremony – as a symbolic launch of the celebratio­n in Sarawak.

Besides the participat­ion of those in IPK Sarawak in Jalan Badruddin here, the celebratio­n was also held at the Sarawak General Operations Force (GOF) headquarte­rs in Batu Kawa, Pulapol Kuching and the Marine police Region Five in Bintulu.

Besides the tree planting ceremony, the celebratio­n also involves ‘gotong royong’ and an aerobic exercise.

A video conference hosted by Bukit Aman among all the participat­ing contingent­s was also held as part of the celebratio­n yesterday.

Also present at the celebratio­n in IPK Sarawak were Deputy Police Commission­er Datuk Pahlawan Dzuraidi Ibrahim and Head of Criminal Investigat­ions Department (CID) Sarawak SAC Dato’ Dev Kumar.
