Mill Hill – De La Salle Resource Centre renovated

-

SIBU: The newly restored and renovated Mill Hill – De La Salle Resource Centre at SMK Sacred Heart was handed over to the school yesterday.

Dato Sri Bartholomew Wong Kee Kho who headed the project management committee handed the centre’s keys to chairman of the school board of management, Bishop Joseph Hii.

The project costing about RM100,000 was funded by Sacred Heart School (SHS) old boys of 1988 (Form 5). Wong said the project was completed two months ahead of schedule. Work to restore the iconic two-storey building at the main entrance of the school built in the 1960s started after Gawai Dayak this year.

“It was supposed to be completed within three months but we managed to do it in one month,” he said prior to the symbolic handover of the centre.

The counselling room at the ground floor of the building had been renovated into a seminar room and night study room. The fully air-conditioned night study room can accommodate 88 students at any one time.

Wong hoped the effort by the old boys of SHS 88 in giving back to their alma mater would be emulated by classes of other years.

He said they were now looking into phase 2 of the project which is to put up a 3D Mural painting on the building.

Wong said their batch also planned to install a four-sided clock at the old clock tower built in the 1970s and landscape the area to beautify it. He hoped to get the Bishop’s blessing and approval to implement both projects.
