RM10,000 awaits champion of Miri River Mouth Fishing Competition

MIRI: A grand cash prize of RM10,000 awaits the champion of Miri River Mouth Fishing Competition, to be held this Aug 27.

The event, organised by Miri Anglers Club, will run from 7.30am to 1pm at Miri River mouth and all fishing enthusiasts here are invited to participate.

According to a spokesperson for the organiser, the competition is aimed at promoting fishing and its ethics as well as to promote awareness of river cleanliness towards creating a green and vibrant Miri resort city.

Apart from that, this competition is also in conjunction with the coming National Day celebration.

Therefore we want to provide a platform for anglers to get together and celebrate Merdeka in a way they enjoy – fishing, he said.

Meanwhile, the first runner-up of the competition will take home RM5,000, followed by RM2,000 for the third place, RM1,000 (fourth) and RM500 (fifth).

Those finishing sixth to 10th place will each receive RM200, while those placing 11th to 15th will each receive RM150.

Each of the top 15 anglers will also receive a set of fishing tackles along with their cash prize.

Theparticipantwiththeheaviest catch above the tournament record of 29kg will receive a special cash prize of RM300.

Closing date for registration is Aug 26, before 3pm.
