Good Samaritans pool resources to help road accident victim in RPR Batu Kawah

-

KUCHING: Kasminah Kachi, whose income as a hawker was affected by a road accident before Hari Raya Aidilfitri, recently received donations from a group of Good Samaritans brought together by voluntary social worker Lim Chee Haw.

Lim said it was the second time he had contacted donors to assist Kasminah, who could not regularly sell food at the stall as she was still recovering from injuries sustained in the road accident.

He brought the donors to deliver the items recently to Kasminah at her rented home in RPR Batu Kawah which she shared with her daugher Rosilawati and three grandchildren, one of whom is handicapped.

“She rang me up asking for help. So, I called up some of my contacts and they duly obliged to pool their funds to assist her.

“The difference in race and religion did not stop them from helping her.

“This spirit of giving back to society must be saluted,” he said.

Lim, a former marine police personnel, said the delivery to Kasminah’s house was his 695th act of charity since devoting his life to social work after retiring from the force.

On another matter, Lim said poor families facing difficulties during bereavement can contact him at 082-248153 or 016- 8070388 if they need help to get coffins for burial service.

He revealed that Good Samaritans had purchased coffins which are now placed at a coffin shop at Third Mile here and are ready to be delivered upon request.

He was glad to inform that 12 coffins had been delivered to families as far away as Serian, which showed this service had benefitted the poor people.
