Lions commended for their unselfish voluntary services
KAPIT: Lions District 308 A2 governor Pelly Lee has called on all members to fully demonstrate commitment and teamwork in order to bring ‘Lionism’ to greater heights.
“The strength of ‘ Lionism’ is in teamwork. This sense of comradeship is the driving force for us to serve the needy in our community with dignity and perseverance. As Lions, we are always ready to serve those in need,” said Pelly at Lions Club Kapit 25th anniversary celebration at a restaurant here on Saturday.
She reminded members of the Lions’ motto ‘ We Serve’, adding that they are proud to serve the communities and help those who are less-fortunate and in need of assistance.
She encouraged them to make a strong commitment in helping to improve their quality of life and also that of others by volunteering their time, energy and resources.
The highlight of the evening was the installation of the board of directors for Lions Club Kapit and Lions Club Song.
The board for Lions Club Kapit ( 2017-2018 term) are president Ting Bee Eng, immediate past president Ong Huang Seng, vicepresident I Tommy Wong Chong Wei, vice-president II Dr Sia Tih Kong, vice-president III Kapitan Yap Hui Lee, secretary Hu Min Ming, treasurer Ling Bee Chong, ‘ tail-twister’ Evelyn Biju, ‘ tamer’ Ting King Yiing, and directors Dato’ Henry Yong, Anthony Jalin, Tiong Ping and Moonly Tiang.
Among those present at the event were Kapit Walikota Philimon Nuing and local community leaders.
At the function, Penghulu Lim Eng Hock announced a grant of RM10,000 from Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi for both Lions Club Kapit and Lions Club Song.
Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat also gave RM 10,000 to Lions Club Kapit, and RM 5,000 to Lions Club Song.
