Over 200 students attend leadership camp organised by Emart

KUCHING: A total of 204 students of Chung Hua Middle School ( CHMS) No 1 here attended a three-day Youth Leadership Camp jointly conducted by Emart Group of Companies and the school.

More than 300 parents of the participat­ing students joined the closing ceremony held at the school hall along Jalan Pending here yesterday.

According to a spokespers­on for Emart Group of Companies, similar events will be run to benefit students in Kanowit and Miri before end of the month.

“Youth Leadership Camp like this is organised by Emart to fulfill part of its corporate social responsibi­lity ( CSR). We believe in character- building and proper guidance to produce quality leaders for tomorrow,” he said when met outside the school hall.

The three- day camp focused on shaping the ability of participan­ts to brace challenges, uphold team spirit, enhance communicat­ion, care for and respect the people around them, pursue their dreams and be responsibl­e individual­s.

“We feel that it is our obligation to conduct Youth Leadership Camp in as many schools as possible to train our young ones as future leaders who are both capable and responsibl­e,” he said.

He added that the initiative had benefited more than 10,000 students aged between 12 and 18 across the state.

The spokespers­on was quick to point out that the camp had been held for the third time at CHMS No 1 here alone.

“Our Youth Leadership Camp is always run jointly with the school concerned. We want our students to be useful, confident and responsibl­e individual­s who dare to dream,” he said.
