348 receive PPS Award

KUCHING: A total of 348 persons received the ‘ Pingat Perkhidmat­an Setia ( PPS)’ award for their long service in the state and federal civil service from Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg at the State Legislativ­e Assembly Complex yesterday.

Leading the recipients was the Sarawak Islamic Council chairman Datu Misnu Taha who has served for 31 years.

State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohammad Morshidi Abdul Ghani attended the ceremony.

Also receiving the PPS medal were Kuching North City Council ( MBKS) acting city secretary Vincent Ang Cheng Aik, Sarawak Health Department director Dr Jamilah Hashim and State Education Department director Rakayah Madon.

The most number of recipients were from Sarawak Education Department ( 53) followed by state Health Department (46) and MBKS (39).

In addition, 33 recipients were from DBKU while others were from Public Works Department (31), Land and Survey Department (17), Forest Department (15), Informatio­n Department (15), Department of Minerals and Geoscience (13), Department of Rural Water Supply (13), Department of Agricultur­e (13), Chief Minister’s Department (12), Marine Department (11), Immigratio­n Department (10), Customs Department ( 9), Broadcasti­ng Department ( 6), Department of Treasury ( 6), Ministry of Local Government and Housing (2) and Brooke Dockyard and Engineerin­g Works (2).

Also present were State Legislativ­e Assembly speaker Datuk Amar Asfia Awang Nassar, Minister of Utilities Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom and Assistant Minister of Women, Family and Childhood Developmen­t Rosey Yunus.
