CSSA e-waste recycling campaign in Bintulu on Aug 12

-

BINTULU: The E-waste Recycling Campaign is back and this year it will be held on Aug 12.

Computer Sales and Services Association ( CSSA) Sarawak Bintulu branch chairman Lee Lei Kiak said the collection point is at Bintulu Civic Centre from 9am to 2pm.

“This programme is to encourage Bintulu residents, government departments, corporate citizens and individuals to bring their old or unused computers, CPUs, monitors, keyboards, printers including all electronic related items to our e-waste recycling campaign,” he said in a press conference at Bintulu Municipal Services ( Perbinda) office yesterday.

According to Lee, old and unused computer parts and accessories will be disposed off by a professional recycling company to protect the environment and the living areas.

“We have been organising this campaign together with Bintulu Development Authority ( BDA) since 2010.

“We collected around 2,000kg of disposed e-waste items in 2015 and this year we intend to give one piece of parking coupon as exchange for every 5kg of e-waste and one RM5 Farley gift voucher as exchange for every 30kg of e-waste,” he said.

The funds collected from the campaign will then be distributed to the needy as part of CSSA’s charity drive.

Also present at the press conference were Perbinda environmental sanitation manager Mohamed Ansari Mohd Syed Ahmad and CSSA Bintulu committee members.
