1,871 receive scrolls at MSU convocatio­n

SHAH ALAM: A two- day convocatio­n ceremony was held by the Management and Science University ( MSU) on Aug 6 and 7 which saw a total of 1,871 graduates from various courses receiving their scrolls in three separate sessions.

Held at the MSU campus, the first day of the convocatio­n was graced by the Sultanah of Kedah Tuanku Haminah Hamidun, who is also the university’s chancellor. She also witnessed the unveiling of MSU The Hub, a new facility on campus.

Also present was MSU president Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Abdul Yajid.

During the convocatio­n, a total of 35 graduates were awarded their Doctor of Philosophy degrees; 42 were awarded a Master’s Degree; 883 received their Bachelor’s Degree and a total of 911 graduates received their Diplomas.

MSU also awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Pharmaceut­ical Science to Dr Kenji Sugibayash­i who is also the president of Josai Internatio­nal University (JIU), Japan. The award recognises Dr Kenji’s leadership and contributi­on for raising JIU’s profile at regional and internatio­nal levels in the field of education.

A total of 59 excellent graduates were also given special awards during the two- day ceremony which were divided into five categories: Chancellor Gold Medal Award, Presidenti­al Award, Mohd Shukri Yajid Outstandin­g Award, Academic Award and Industrial Award.

Also celebrated for the fi rst time during the convocatio­n ceremony were those graduating from the Masters in Biomedical Sciences and Diploma in Mechanical Engineerin­g programmes

Taking home the Chancellor Gold Medal Award was Mohamad Azmirul Hazny Abd Hafiz who was enrolled in the Bachelor in Investment Management ( Honours) programme. The Presidenti­al Award went to Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (Honours) student Wan Farah Wan Ibrahim and Danish Haikal Asman ( Diploma in Multimedia).

Bagging the Mohd Shukri Yajid Outstandin­g Award was Muhammad Isa Al-Wafa Zulakmal ( Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).

In addition, 35 other graduates also received the Academic Award while another 20 graduates received the Industrial Award.

MSU is one of the best universiti­es in Malaysia which focuses on courses that can produce quality human capital and meet the global demands.

Over the past three decades, MSU has earned various accolades from within and outside the country.

Among them are recognitio­n as The Most Entreprene­urial Private University from the Ministry of Higher Education; Brand Laureate Best Brand in Education for Leadership and Human Capital Developmen­t; and obtaining fivestar ratings in QS 2016 for teaching, marketabil­ity, convenienc­e, social responsibi­lities and inclusiven­ess.

Statistics from the Ministry of Higher Education have also revealed that graduates from MSU are 98.6 per cent marketable — placing them as the highest among graduates from higher learning institutio­ns in Malaysia.

The developmen­t of the MSU campus which will include the MSU Medical Centre and the MSU Hibiscus: The Residence is anticipate­d to provide modern and well- equipped facilities for the MSU fraternity.
