KUCHING: The rabies scare in the state has prompted the son of Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang to be rushed to Sarawak General Hospital for treatment after he was bitten by a stray dog on Monday.

Ethan Lo, 18, was about to enter his car after visiting a friend at Lorong Durian Burung in Taman Satria ( BDC) about 7.30pm when a stray dog suddenly came and bit him on the right shin.

“I was still in my office at Padawan Municipal Council when I received a call from my son saying he was bitten by a stray dog. I immediately went out to meet him at the hospital.

“Ethan had his wound washed and cleaned and had his injections too and I only paid RM1 for the whole thing. It is at times like this I realise how fortunate we Malaysians are. We must never take our hospitals for granted,” he said when met after his son was given outpatient treatment on Monday evening.

Lo, who is also PMC chairman, expressed his appreciation to the doctors and staff of the hospital, and advised people to be wary of dogs unless they were pets and knew the animals well.

“We must not take dogs for granted at this time. We must be wary of dogs and stay away from them if they are not our pets.

“I am impressed with the doctors and staff at SGH. It is such a busy place and not an easy one to manage if one doesn’t have the heart and passion to

He also said Ethan would watch out for that particular dog while Kuching South City Council ( MBKS) officers had agreed to catch and observe the dog over a period of time.
