Kuching Connections Toastmasters to hold first August club meeting tomorrow
KUCHING: Kuching Connections Toastmasters Club (CTMC) will host its first August club meeting tomorrow ( Aug 10) at the Homestay Hotel, Jalan Ellis here.
The meeting, scheduled to commence at 7.30pm, is open to the public.
The CTMC is part of Toastmasters International – a worldwide non-profit educational organisation that empowers individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders.
Toastmasters International is present in 146 countries.
Apart from the typical speech and evaluation session, there will be a pathway- sharing session conducted by past international president Datuk John Lau in this meeting, according to a Toastmasters press release.
Toastmasters International has been running new competencybased educational programmes in recent weeks, where one can learn and acquire over 50 competency skills in communications and leadership, coaching, mentoring, planning and organising, teamwork, priority management, interpersonal skills, negotiation and project planning.
These new competency-based programmes are available to young executives and managers to acquire to climb the corporate leadership ladder.
The theme of tomorrow’s meeting is ‘First Things First’.
“Nobody is too busy – it’s just a matter of priorities,” said Vincent Chai, the president of CTMC.
“When something is regarded as more important than another, you will definitely make time for it. In life, there will be many things that need our attention, but if we apply the principle of ‘First Things First’, it would save us from wasting our time,” said Chai.
The emcee or the ‘ Toastmaster of the Evening’ of tomorrow’s meeting is Stanley Gona – a past president of Kuching CTMC, who has served as a Toastmasters area director in District 87.
He is a Distinguished Toastmaster ( DTM) – the highest educational award in Toastmasters.
The entry fee to the meeting is RM10 per person, inclusive of light refreshments.
Kuching CTMC meets on the second and fourth Thursday of every month at Homestay Hotel, commencing 7.30pm.
