MCC checks over 200 premises under ‘Ops Patuh 10’

MIRI: More than 200 premises were inspected during Miri City Council ( MCC)’s ‘Ops Patuh 10’ here yesterday.

More than 50 enforcemen­t personnel from the MCC as well as those from Royal Malaysia Police ( PDRM) and Health Department took part in the operation, which commenced at 9am.

Mayor Adam Yii said the objectives of Ops Patuh 10 were to check whether or not the premises had the licence to run their operations, if there was any illegal extension being done on the building and if the eateries took cleanlines­s for granted.

ensured the safety for the operation personnel. The Health Department focused on the overall cleanlines­s of the business premises under its jurisdicti­on,” Yii said, adding that the target area for the operation was divided into four zones – one each for one team.

“Zone 1 covers Morsjaya commercial centre, Taman Tunku business area and Taman Jelita business area; Zone 2 covers the city centre, Miri Waterfront and Centre Point 1 and 2 commercial areas; Zone 3 comprises Pelita Commercial Centre, Boulevard Commercial Centre and North Yu Seng Road; while Zone 4 covers Permyjaya New Township, Lutong old and new business areas and Senadin business area.

“This operation is being done in a big scale for the first time this year, but enforcemen­t is an ongoing activity,” Yii said, adding the operation was important in ensuring the standard of business premises was high in anticipati­on of Visit Miri Year 2018.

The mayor also reminded all business operators to comply with the rules and regulation­s to avoid from being compounded.

“Errant traders will be compounded and after three compounds, they will be brought to court,” he warned.

The compound for not displaying licence is RM100, no licence ( RM300), back lane of shops being used illegally ( RM300) and illegal waste dumping ( RM300).
