Duck-foot-shaped medal for race finishers

-

KUCHING: In the fifth instalment of SSPCA’s annual Animazing Race, finishers will receive a duck foot-shaped medal.

Previous years’ races saw different animal-inspired medals such as Cat paws and the endangered Orang Utan feet and Sunbear paws.

The Animazing Race, which will happen on Oct 8 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching ( BCCK), is a fundraising and awareness event held every year by the Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals ( SSPCA) for pet animals, pet lovers and everyone alike.

The event is expected to attract 1,200 participants who will be running a new route through the Isthmus and Sejingkat.

All proceeds go towards the daily needs of the SSPCA shelter in Kota Sentosa.

The run is divided into 5km Men and Women Open, 10km Men and Women Open and 10km Men and Women Veteran.

There will also be attractive prizes for the top ten finishers in every category.

A special category, the Wiggle Waggle Walk, where pet animals such as cats, dogs, rabbits and turtles can walk together with their owners, has been cancelled due to the recent rabies outbreak.

In addition, for the first time in Animazing Race history, runners who can’t make it on the actual day can opt for a ‘virtual run’, where they screenshot their running record from wherever they are and submit it to SSPCA via email.

Registration is now open via animazingrace.com or from any Lea Sports Centre in town. Fees range from RM60/ RM70 plus an additional RM10/RM15 for virtual runners.

Race pack collection will be held on Sept 29 and 30. For further information, contact Aree at 082555189 during office hours. Do follow the SSPCA Animazing Race page on Facebook for new updates.

This event is managed by Place Borneo Sdn Bhd.
