MIRI: Miri City Council ( MCC) is urged to take immediate action against the many stray dogs at Desa Senadin ( Phase 2C) and Desa Ras for fear they may bite people like the case involving an assemblyman’s son on Monday.

A resident, Ayak Jamil, said even though the possibility of being bitten by stray dogs had been highlighted umpteen times by the media no action had so far been taken by the city council to catch them.

“We don’t want residents being bitten by stray dogs. We want the council to take immediate action,” he said when met yesterday.

Ayak said those stray dogs were always seen moving in groups of six or seven, barking unnecessarily and causing fear among the residents.

He added that he had twice reported the matter to the media, once on July 16 and the other on Aug 2, but still nothing was done to catch those strays. Many

Also, a seven-year- old boy from Kampung Kuala Gedong in Samarahan has been confirmed as the sixth rabies victim in the state.
