AirAsia brings flagship travel fair to Sarawak, Sabah

KUCHING: AirAsia’s annual travel event, the AirAsia Travel Fair (AATF) is set to return to Sarawak and Sabah this year to further boost the tourism sector in both states.

The fair, entering its fourth year, will take place at Wisma Sanyan in Sibu today and tomorrow, and also at Giant Sandakan in Sabah this Aug 19 to 20 – both from 9am to 9pm daily.

According to the low- cost carrier, visitors can enjoy special promotions in each city such as 20 per cent off from all online fares exclusivel­y during the travel fair, as well as the ‘ Buy 1, Free 1’ deals for flights from Kuching to Langkawi and Pontianak for the first 20 visitors who book the flights at Wisma Sanyan.

Moreover, travellers stand to enjoy great bargains for AirAsia X routes such as from Kuala Lumpur to Taipei, Sydney, Beijing and Sapporo when they travel for two with ‘All-in-Fares’ promotion from RM388 oneway.

Visitors in Sandakan can also look forward to similar offers.

AirAsia head of commercial Spencer Lee said: “We are pleased to host our travel fair in Sarawak and Sabah again this year as part of our continuous effort to develop and grow our network in East Malaysia.

“The AATF is designed to allow us to effectivel­y engage with our guests by offering them on-the- spot discounts and special promotions. This year, we are excited to visit Sibu and Sandakan.”

“We had very encouragin­g results in Kuching, Miri, Tawau and Kota Kinabalu last year – we forecast that the response would be even better this time around.”

The AATF 2017 will also feature up to seven booths at each venue offering great travel deals and exciting prizes to be won such as free f lights, apart from games and activities such as lucky draws, contests and cultural performanc­es.

AirAsia partners such as Santan, BIG Duty Free, Rokki, Tune Protect and AirAsiaGo will also be present at both locations during the fair.

AirAsia currently flies to three destinatio­ns from Sibu – Kuching, Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, with a total of 72 flights weekly. The carrier connects Sibu with 12 countries such as Australia, China and India via ‘Fly-Thru’.

It also flies to two destinatio­ns from Sandakan – Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu, with a total of 36 flights weekly and connects Sandakan with 10 countries such as China, Hong Kong and Australia via Fly-Thru.
