LUBOK ANTU: Community leaders here continue to show their support for their elected representative Datuk William Nyallau Badak, who they hope to be re-nominated as Barisan Nasional ( BN) candidate for the Lubok Antu parliamentary seat in the coming general election.

They said Nyallau is constantly in touch with his constituents and still can serve as their member of Parliament for at least one more term.

On Saturday, a total of 21 Lubok Antu community leaders and longhouse chiefs gathered at Panggang longhouse here to voice their support for Nyallau.

“Nyallau is still capable and we do not want anyone else to be our elected representative here. We hope that BN top leaders are aware of this one very particular request of the people here,” said

We hope the BN top leadership will understand why we still want Nyallau as our elected representative. He really knows the people well here and because of him, Lubok Antu has become a BN stronghold during recent elections.

Another longhouse chief, Abel Lawang, commented that Nyallau has proven that he is very approachable and that he knows the people in the area well.

He also opined that the people were not ready for Nyallau’s retirement as they still needed him to continue his plans for the constituency.

Chinese community leader Kapitan Tay Choo Ming, on the other hand, made it clear that Nyallau cared for all communities in Lubok Antu, not just the Iban community, saying Nyallau had brought a lot of development for the Chinese community in the district.

“I would like to point out that the Chinese community of Lubok Antu here are thankful for his services for the people and we still want him. We are very well taken care of in terms of the development he brought here ever since he was elected as MP of this area,” he
