SIBU: Second Minister of Finance Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh has assured St Mary’s Church that the empty piece of land next to the wooden building of St. Mary’s Primary School will be turned into a multipurpose field.

He said this is to provide students of SK St Mary just next to the empty piece of land with a place conducive for holding various outdoor activities.

“Besides that, the students of Wong Tuong Kwang Kindergarten which is located within the compound of St Mary’s Church can also utilise the multipurpose field for their kindergarten outdoor activities,” he added when met after inspecting the empty piece of land yesterday.

“It will be done soon to cater to the needs of both the schools and the church,” he assured.

Meanwhile, Aloysius said the multipurpose field could also be used as parking bay for church parishioners.

“The St Mary’s Church is a church with 800 parishioners and on every Saturday and Sunday including obligatory days, they have no choice but to park their vehicles on the road in front of the church due to insufficient parking lots within the church compound.

“Thus, the multipurpose field once constructed would also enable the parents from both schools to conveniently drop off and pick up their children during school days,” he pointed out.

Both Aloysius and Maria expressed their big thank you and appreciation to Wong for his concern to the needs of the students and parishioners.
