47 bodybuilders vie for Mr Hammer honours
SIBU: Bodybuilding has become a popular sport in this country as evident by the mushrooming of gyms at every nook and cranny, said KTS Trading Sdn Bhd senior executive Kelvin Lau.
He said this at the opening of the 2nd Mr Hammer Bodybuilding cum Physique Championships on Saturday evening at Kingwood Hotel here.
“This is great because this reflects the growing trend of the younger generation being more conscious of their health – both physical and mental,” he added.
While confessing that he knew little about the sport Lau then quoted an American bodybuilder Kai Greene: “Bodybuilding is an art, your body is the canvas, weights are your brush and nutrition is your paint. We all have the ability to turn a self portrait into a masterpiece.”
Meanwhile, two contestants from Kuching who are bound for the upcoming Mr Asia championships won top honours during the evening.
Awang Mohd Azizul Ghani and Melvern Abdul lah, both representing Freaks Fitness Gym, emerged champions in the above 70kg and below 70kg categories respectively.
