-

KAPIT: Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat recently took a walkabout in his constituency to inspect the various Rural Transformation Programme ( RTP) projects being implemented there.

Among the projects were longhouse roads and bridges.

Despite the very wet weather, Jamit braved the rain on Sunday to inspect the steel bridge project across Sungai Kapit to link Rumah Nuang and Rumah Taba to Jalan Bukit Goram, the main road.

The RM300,000 four-metre by 40-metre bridge when completed allows lorries of up to five tonnes to drive through.

Syarikat Teresak Bestari was awarded the contract to construct the bridge with work commencing last month and is expected to be completed in Oct this year.

Its manager, Watson Awan Jalai, disclosed that the project was progressing smoothly and was about 45 per cent completed. He expressed confidence that the project would be completed by the scheduled date in October this year.

“I am now at my Bukit Goram state constituency to inspect the various RTP and MRP projects implemented in my constituency. At the same time, I also visited some longhouses to meet the constituents to get feedback on what are their priority projects,” said Jamit when approached.

“I am happy that the RTP and MRP projects are being implemented smoothly. I would like to thank the government agencies for monitoring the various projects which are implemented. Some projects are already completed while others are under various stages of construction,” he added.

Jamit was accompanied by heads of departments, community leaders and contractors awarded the RTP projects during the inspection.
