Strong unity vital in ensuring ongoing development — Fadillah

-

KUCHING: The government is always listening to the people’s needs to ensure that they would enjoy better standard of living.

However, unity among them remains vital to ensure that any improvement or development would continue to benefit them, says Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

“If the people are united, it is easy to implement anything – projects, upgrades and repairs can be done. This is for the benefit of the people, so we should retain and fortify the unity among the people,” he spoke at a ‘ Meet the People’ session in Taman Sri Malihah here on Sunday night.

Moreover Fadillah, who is Petra Jaya MP, said politics should be kept out when it comes to serving the people, adding that in Peninsular Malaysia, too much time is spent on politicking that there is no time to think about improving people’s lives.

Meanwhile, the neighbourhood committee ( KRT) head Rapiee Sahari informed Fadillah on the needs of the people here such as a covered walkpath up to the main road, street-lighting and a multipurpose site.

To this, Fadillah said that the estimates for the walkpath would be made and if it is within budget, the project could commence soon; otherwise, it would be done next year.

Additionally, there is also a RM300,000 allocation for upgrading works on the drainage in the area, which is currently ongoing, as the area is low-lying and flood-prone.

“We plan to do the drainage upgrading bit by bit to reduce f lood occurrence in the area. Another RM200,000 is for the retaining wall at Sungai Tengah. All this is to benefit the people,” said the minister.

State National Unity and Integration Department officer Abdul Rashid Mahsin was also present at the event.
