Elaine Kang to perform at Merdeka Variety Show on Aug 19

KUCHING: Popular artiste Datuk Elaine Kang will be performing at the upcoming Merdeka Variety Show at UCSI Hotel Kuching on Aug 19 at 6pm.

According to a press statement, Kang has a collection of 30 albums to her name since embarking on a singing career in the 1980s. Her contributions to the music industry, both locally and internationally, have also earned her an Honorary Fellowship conferred by the London College of Music in United Kingdom.

The Penang-born Kang is also an all-round performer, having dabbled in acting and hosting programmes.

Apart from Kang, there will also be performances by students from the Institute of Music, UCSI University Kuala Lumpur Campus showcasing Nurul Aina and Maxy Chan.

Nurul Aina, whose talent was discovered in her early years of primary education by her teacher, has won several accolades including the World Championship Of Performing Art as the Senior Vocalist of Champion of The World at Los Angeles in 2014 while Chan is the first Malaysian pianist to bring back a Gold Medal from the Asia Piano Competition 2013 at National Taiwan Normal University, Taipei.

The latter also won several awards during her musical career such as Champion of the 6th Roland Music Festival in Pop and Jazz piano solo category, third prize in the 1st EuroAsia Youth Music Competition in the Senior category as well as the Gold Award from the Asia Music Competition in Seoul Korea.
