Swee Yong pointed out that Abang Johari had been supporting the festival from the time when he was the minister-in- charge of tourism, which was when the event was first held, up until now as chief minister.

“YAB ( The Right Honourable Chief Minister) is a big proponent of unity and on how this festival has captured that unity among the different races in Sarawak.

“He gave me one clear message, and that is to ensure that this event continues to be multi- cultural. He wants us to make it even better this year. My team is now very busy with all the preparations.

“We are certain that our chief minister will be pleased that our vision and mission is to promote the sights, sound and tastes of Sarawak and showcase our true unity,” said Swee Yong.

He also said the festival has been promoting the slogan ‘Sight, Sound and Taste’ all these years, and that the event has transformed from a Malay- Chinese unity do into a Sarawakian multi- cultural and unit-in- diversity event.

“We aim to showcase as many ethnic cultures as possible in all their glory with colors, music and food,” he said.
