HDC distributes housing loan offer letters to successful applicants

-

SARIKEI: The Housing Development Corporation ( HDC) distributed offer letters to successful applicants of housing loans under the Rumah Mesra Rakyat ( RMR) scheme on Saturday.

“Thirty-five of these applicants are from Sarikei, and 20 from Tanjung Manis,” disclosed HDC head of public relations Ali Omar Su’ut at the distribution of offer letters in HDC site office in Taman Susur Jambu here.

“Still, they ( applicants) can either accept or reject the offer, but they are required to give a definite answer as soon as possible,” he said.

As the applicants are under the ‘ RMR Individual’ scheme, the houses – priced at RM74,000 a unit – would be built on their own lots, said Ali Omar.

“However, the amount of loan is only RM54,000, as RM20,000 would be subsidised by the federal government.”

The houses would be built after all documentation process had been completed, he said, adding that it would normally take about three months to build a unit.

The applicants are required to repay their loans as soon as they receive the house keys. The monthly instalment is RM350 for 25 years, or 300 months.

Only those with monthly household income not exceeding RM3,000 and not less than RM1,500 are qualified for the RMR housing scheme.

Those qualified are required to apply through their respective MP or assemblyman’s offices and the forms would be submitted to Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB) for approval.

The application would also be referred to Land and Survey Department and Bank Negara for verification purposes.

HDC officer Kusairi Sani was also present at the function.
